Laszlo's homepage

Laszlo had 16 good years, including eight great years with Jane & Allan. He passed away 2010-10-01.

Hi! I'm Jane and Allan's dog, Victor Laszlo Dominguez-West, just "Laszlo" to my friends. I have a big personality but a small body because I'm a chihuahua. My coloration is like my uncle Max, Jane's parents' rottweiler. I'm smaller than my cousins Oblio Chihuahua and Gordo Lovely Mutt, whose pet humans are Jane's little sister Amanda and her husband Dave.

I was rescued from Seminole County Animal Service by the Chihuahua Rescue & Transport. After being rescued I was fostered by a nice lady named Selene and got all my checkups and a visit to the dentist. After a few months of TLC, Jenny drove me up to Gainesville where I met Jane and Allan.

Jane and Allan bonded with me right away because I'm such a cute, good natured dog. Now I have a home all to myself with two pet humans, and my own fenced back yard. There are other dogs on every side of the fenced yard, so there are lots of new smells to learn.

Mama and daddy are very proud of me because I'm well behaved and trained. I've mastered how to go to the bathroom outside. I know how to stay still in the bath and for grooming, and how to cuddle. I'm really good at cuddling.

As I mature, I've gone completely blind, so I get turned around easily. Most days I guard the couch, but I still patrol the house and the yard for new scents. I'm also beginning to have mini-strokes, so I get confused easily and spend more time sleeping than I used to.

Here are my latest photos. Click on them for the larger view.
I am becoming a basket case, but only because the basket of plush toys is so comfy I participated in the 2009 Take Your Dad To Work Day at the FCLA offices. Everyone came over to tell me how cute I was, and to thank me for bringing my papa. >8^)
Mama took me with her to Hanks Yarn and Fiber, where the knitters stitch and bitch. She had to fend off lots of offers from the other knitters to take me home with them. Click the photo to see me in mama's lap. I'm the cute little guy with the pink ears.
I have a sock yarn color named after me!

I'm a cute small dog! I can't see so well anymore, but I can still guard the couch.

I'm the cute one in the family I have slain the fearsome earthworm

I had a friend visit for a couple of days. He was on his way into shih tzu rescue (even though he is a lhasa apso). He didn't have a name so Jane and Allan called him "Puffy" because that seemed nicer than calling him "the other dog."

I've got Allan well trained in the art of belly rubs.

I've found a new place to make a nest.
It's underneath the end table where my pet humans store their blankets.

Happy Valentine's Day!
(p.s. this image tiles nicely for a very loud screen background.)

I was innocently basking in the sun, and Mama broke out the camera. (She even had me model my sweaters, sheesh!) Click on my chic self to go to my newest photos.

I'm settling in. Mama has made me my own special place to hang out in her desk drawer so she can get this thing called "work" done without me being in her lap. I get to stay close enough to her that she can pet my head and scratch my belly, and I don't get too lonely here.

My older photos have been moved to save space. Click here if you want to see them.

In case I ever get lost, I've been microchip tagged. Mama and Daddy have registered both chips with their appropriate agencies:
